Hypothetically speaking: If I really tried could I take my braces off myself?!

Question: With like a pliers or something? I'm not going to do this but I always wondered if it was possible.

I think so, the glue works in the same way as preserve jar lids... if you get one corner off the rest wil jsut pop off, but it is very hard to do.
There would also be gross bits of the superglue type stuff they stick them on with, and you would hurt yourself A LOT. I used to have braces, and when they were taken off my teeth had to be 'sanded down' to get the glue off.
you also need all this specialist equipment.

Sure you could. Many people at different times have actually had to do so. An orthodontist can tell you how, if you for some reason should ever have to.

Yes. Actually, when my aunt was a teenager, she was supposed to get her braces off but the orthadontist postponed the appointment. So, she grabbed a pair of pliers and took them off herself =P

Lol, through all the pain and suffering of wearing braces I had that thought cross my mind many many times!!

I have had braces myself and it would definitely be possible. I would be a bit concerned that if you relied on pure force that the brace may remain stuck to the tooth and your tooth pop out of your gum (remember your teeth are a bit 'looser' when you have braces so that they can move around a bit and fit nicely together). That said my dentist tightened mine too tightly a few times and the braces popped off on their own accord.

Nah all the money you spend on the stupid things let the experts take them off and then you are left with smooth, clean, straight, beautiful teeth.
