Answers:

Yes, the tannic acid in tea will help the clot to form. We advise patients to moisten a tea bag with water and "gently" bite down on it for about 30 minutes. Although, it's possible that you may be disturbing the site by removing the gauze and keeping it bleeding. Most patients can leave the office with the gauze in place and remove it after they arrive home 15 -30 minutes later, without replacing it or having any excessive bleeding. So it may be best for you to just leave it uncovered and sip on some iced tea, milkshakes, smoothies or anything ice cold. The cold will help reduce the bleeding really fast. Keep in mind that a small amount of blood mixed with saliva can look like so much more blood than it really is. So, cold things today and tonight, then warm tomorrow. That's the rule, ice the first 24 hours then heat after. Keep the ice pack on for tonight to help reduce any swelling. Also avoid aspirin, take Advil or Motrin a few hours after taking your antibiotics and pain medication. Good luck and I hope I've been of help.
