Do you think I need root canal's?!

Question: I know the dentist is the only one who can really tell me but I am afraid to go! I really cannot afford root canals.

Heres the deal, I went to the dentist after YEARS of not going. HUGE mistake- I needed a deep clean and I had 13-15 cavaties... (first I was told 13 then I was told 15). 8 of them were POSSIBLE root canals. They worked on my mouth at 4 different appointments. Thursday March 6th, Tuesday March 11th, Thrusday March 13th and Sunday March 16th.
I did not need any root canals but they said some were so bad and close to the nerve. They said if I had pain later, to come back and I might need a root canal. I have been okay with pai

After my treatment I got the Colgate whitening take home kit from my dentist. I know that should make my gums tender.
I am experiencing alot of jaw pain for one and I THINK some of my back bottom teeth are in alot of pain. I cant really determine which teeth though. Its difficult to eat some things for example, my fiber choice chewable pills.

>>Your Dr. was being very conservative when doing those fillings,,especially if he told you that in the future you may need a root canal on them,
When you drink hot or cold liquids,,do they hurt? If so,,,it could be the one needing a root canal. Sometimes as you say,You cant tell which tooth it is??
The pain your having could determine ( when chewing your bars )how long it has been since your last dental treatment,,if not so long ago,,It could be as simple as needing to have the bite adjusted ( when he filled the tooth, he put too much filling in it ) and that would be just a quick trip to have him smooth out the filling,,
If your teeth are sensitive,,that's a natural reaction to bleaching,,BUT do not put the bleach in the back of the trays,,only on the teeth that people can see when you smile.
If you have any of these symptoms I have given you,,,go back to see your Dentist,,you have put a lot of time and money into your mouth , and you need to continue with the great dental habits you have gotten>>
GOOD LUCK>>>>

only if ur big teeth r loose

go ask your dentist

What I think you need to do is switch to a sensitive teeth toothpaste and worry about the whitening stuff later on. Jaw pain is common after you've had a lot of work. I am currently having sensitivity problems with my resin filled teeth after a bout of sinusitis (really bad - hurt my teeth roots too). I'm here to tell you the sensitive teeth toothpaste HELPS!

You may get away with not having a root canal. They thought I needed one on a tooth, but chose to use the resin thing. I may have to get a root canal later, but right now it's going good.

maybe you should wait a couple of days to see if the pain goes away if not then you should probably get them

Your mouth might hurt because of all the work that was done over so short a period of time. Give it a week or so and you should feel better. If not, it might be that one of your fillings wasn't fitted right. I know that happened to me and I had to go back and get it taken out and another put in. (Something about the shape of the filling kept hitting the tooth above it). Good luck

If you went to the Dentist he should have made xrays of all your teeth since you had so many cavities. The pain could be from the work you just had. If the pain persist I would have xrays to see the damage you have, not just to your teeth but your bones around your teeth. You gums may have alot to do with the pain your having. Bad teeth leds to bad health. It can cause several health problems.

Half the population does not see a dentist, at all, unless absolutely forced to because of pain and then it is usually after a visit to an emergency room.

Don't be one of them. There are many dentists who are trained to treat people with dental phobias, which is what you have. Google them, look through your phone book, or ask a friend.

Dentists are more aware of your fears than you are, believe me, and those that are willing to take you on have the patience and skills to help you deal with your teeth in a painless and private manner.

Good luck.

Do what you need to do. Your teeth are supposed to last your lifetime.

Root canal is more expensive than you think. After the root canal you will have to get the implant of a tooth which is also expensive Get an estimate from your dentist and you will know.
Investigate if it could be better to extract some of the teeth and replace them with a removable prosthesis which could be a less expensive solution.

Root canals are for teeth that have serious or deep cavity that is in the root(s) of your tooth. Some times it's hard to determine even after going in, how far it has gone. Root canals are a great way to be able to keep a tooth. Because the alternative is to remove it and replace it. A lot of people take out the tooth and never go to stage 2 (ie bridge work, partial denture) And they end up with horrible looking shifted teeth. You may also have to discuss crowns for that tooth.
Now, you have to have a good teeth cleaning routine, brush, floss or use rota-points. Maybe even ask him to give you the pink tie pills. You chew them and it shows you all the areas that you missed. I love them.
I think you should have waited for 1 week before whitening you teeth. Pain could be trauma around the tooth because of the clamps used. You may have to go back.
I have to admit, I don't go to he dentist every 6mths. I so wish I could but I just can't afford it. I do try to put away at least 20
a month so that I can at least have a cleaning. Please, if you can brush as many time as you can. floss, use mouth wash like Listerine. You can even add water if you find it's too hot. Change your tooth brush 4 times a year.
And by the way, some times people have natural deep groves on their teeth that make it easier for them to have cavities.
