Is it common to have stopped up ears or similar symptoms after wisdom teeth extr!

Question:

Is it common to have stopped up ears or similar symptoms after wisdom teeth extraction?

I had my wisdom teeth cut out Friday of last week and my ears seem stopped up. I can hear, but it is like when I have a cold or the flu. Maybe it is the swelling. Anyone know or have this experience?

Answers:

Yes, the tissue swelling in the back of the mouth after dental surgery can affect hearing.
The swelling is probably affecting the eustachian tubes that run from the back of the upper throat (in the nasopharynx) to the middle ear.
It will get back to normal between 1-2 weeks.
