I got my braces off in December. It doesn't hurt really, they have special pliers to take the brackets off without pain. But if you have thin front lower teeth like I do, it may hurt a bit while they buff the glue off on those teeth, but nothing too bad.
It took me maybe a week to get used to having them off, only because my teeth felt bigger without all the brackets on them. But, it does feel nice. It doesn't really feel "slimy", but more like smoother than what you're probably used to now.
And it depends on what orthodontist you go to, but they may put a "permanent retainer" on the back of your bottom teeth (on the front teeth only), made of one wire and dots of glue. It really isn't "permanent" but they'll leave it in for a long time to make sure your teeth don't slide around while you wear a removable retainer on your top teeth. My orthodontist gave me a retainer that is a lot like Invisalign for my top teeth. However, you may get a metal one.... it depends on the orthodontist.
If you're worried about pain or soreness, take a tylonol before the appointment.

it depends on the person. for some people it is hared to get used to them off but for most its not. they do feel a little slimy because of the stuff they put on your teeth. that goes away after you brush them.
It feels great. I mean there is a little pressure at first 'cause he does have to press a little, just a little. But when you get to look in the mirror it's just amazing.
It feels amazing. When i got them off i couldnt stop rubbing my tongue over my teeth. It feels weird at first...and yes they feel slimy. It doesnt hurt when they take them off...they just kinda pop em off. Its a simple thing
If you've got the bands on your teeth, getting them off doesn't usually hurt at all. They pop off really easily, especially when you think about how big a pain it was to get those suckers on in the first place! Your gums might be a little sore after an hour or so, but it gets better pretty quickly. Take some Tylenol or Advil an hour before your appointment if you're worried.
It can actually be a little gritty rather than slimy until they get any and all bits of cement off, and since your teeth have been under the bands, they're kind of dry.
hey really do pry them off, and it feels like it is going to hurt, but it doesn't. then you will stare at yourself in the mirror and smile the rest of the day!!! :)
It's brilliant when you get your braces off. Your mouth seems so soft and empty. No more sharp, jagged metal. I remember it felt like there was nothing there when I got mine removed. It's suprisingly easy to get used to aswell because it is so comfortable.
It doesn;t hurt when they remove them, they can use a lot of force though. No more than you will be used to already. Definately worth it.
You feel relieved when the braces are off, and adjust to them quickly
It doesn't hurt, the only thing i hated was when they were taking off the glue because i couldn't stand it and i had to wait until they were over. But they will probably be sensitive afterwards because your not used to it, but that goes away. And also, you'll probably think your teeth look huge, i thought i looked soo ugly when i first looked in the mirror, but that will soon go away!! You'll be used to it all in less then a week. It didn't hurt me but I had a lot of composite still stuck to my teeth. The Dentist didn't remove it and I had it on my teeth for years.
i just got my braces off monday. it might have been the best day of my life.
it doesn't really hurt, they just pretty much take pliers and pull the brackets off. if your teeth are sensitive, it might hurt a little, but i was so happy they were coming off i didn't even care.
afterwards..
i thought i looked really weird at first, but im getting used to myself without braces. feel your teeth as much as possible like w/ your tounge right after they come off.. they'll never feel that smooth or clean ever again in your life lol. have fun :]
Getting your braces off it really hurts for about a day and then after that day they feel good and dont hurt. It really hurts when it gets pulled but dont think about it think about your birthday or something good. Afterward it isnt really hard to get used to. after a week you will get used too it. It is not really slimy not even a little slimy. Your teeth will not have white marks after.
