It never goes away. I look like i have a diseased tongue. What food items exacerbate this condition.? Will it ever go away completely?
Answers:
The cause of geographic tongue is unknown but some believe it may be caused by allergy or hormonal fluctuations. Try to determine if certain foods exacerbate the condition or if hormonal fluctuations (oral contraceptives) contribute to it.
Treatment is not necessary but topical corticosteroids have been used to try to improve symptoms. Taking zinc supplements has also been tried. No universally effective or recommended treatment exists.
