Answers:

Just spitting out the saliva that has collected in your mouth is unlikely to do you any harm.

Dry socket is caused when the blood clot that forms in the socket following extraction is lost or badly formed. This is less likely if you have sutures in place. Vigorous rinsing (i.e. swishing water in your cheeks) makes it more likely, but simple spitting is usually fine.

The chances of dry socket are also higher if the extraction was very difficult, if you are female (sorry girls!) or if you smoke. I can't stress the importance of that last one enough.

The bottom line is, if you are concerned, you need to go back and let a dentist actually look at you. Yahoo Answers is no substitute for proper professional advice.

The sore throat may be caused by a few things. If you had a general anaesthetic you will have had a breathing tube passed down the back of your throat, which can scratch it and cause soreness. Your throat may also have been packed with gauze while you were asleep. You may be unintentionally holding your mouth open more than normal, causing a drying effect on your throat, which may lead to soreness. If you are spitting out a lot of saliva, you may also be swallowing insufficiently often to properly lubricate your throat.
