Sensitivity to cold in back molar?!

Question: So I developed a sensitivity to cold things in one of my teeth, and it only hurts when I drink/eat cold things. My dentist claims a filling in the tooth got loose, so they replaced it, but it still feels the same. What else could it be?

The tooth could have a fracture; they're almost impossible to detect by x-ray. However, the new filling may take care of the problem; sometimes it takes a while for the discomfort to go away.

maybe they didnt do a very good job replacing it, or maybe you wore down the enamel

i had the same thing months ago. all i did was buy toothpaste for sensitive teeth. luckily the pain went away.
