Gum covering part of lower back tooth?!

Question:

Gum covering part of lower back tooth?

I don't know how long this has been an issue (at least the past few months) but I'm a 19 year old male and have noticed part of my lower-left back tooth is partly covered.

Feeling with my finger, running it along my bottom left row of teeth, when I get to the last tooth, half way through their is gum and when I move over and across to the inside of the tooth, gum covers it.

The problem here is that is I eat a lot using the lower left teeth then it feels sore aftwards, although this is only noticable when I push down on it using my tongue or finger.

First off, is this something to worry about and can I be advised on what could be done about it? I really don't like the idea of having it operated on, but obviously don't want to neglect it and end up with something worse.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Answers:

It sounds like a partialy impacted wisdom tooth, and you can leave it if it doesnt cause you pain. But there are a few things you should do, buy a water pick, so that you can cleans the tooth properly and get all the junk out from under ther gum line. Also make sure you see a dentist every 6 months for a routine cleaning. I have the same problem and after buying the water pick My gums didnt have any soreness anymore after eating.
