just had a tooth yesterday and the hole is turning black. is that bad? i don't have any pain or swelling.

Sounds to me like you are seeing the blood clot. Had a wisdom tooth pulled about a week ago, my last, so I am an old hand at this. As long as it isn't painful you should be fine, if the soreness doesn't go away in a couple of days and it is painful to touch, schedule an appointment.
