Dry Socket?!

Question: I had my #3 tooth pulled yesterday and it was an easy extraction. I haven't had any pain since he has pulled it and I do have a clot where he pulled it. I looked in the mirror and there is a little bit of white on part of the clot? I did brush my teeth but not the extraction site, I haven't spit (when brushing my teeth), I didn't use Listerine, I have avoided hot and cold foods, I ate soft foods yesterday, and I used the gauze like my dentist told me too. My mom said it is healing but I'm really, really, really afraid of getting dry socket. Is it healing? I don't have any pain at all.

You are doing a wonderful job so far...keep up the good work and it will keep heeling. But don't get too worried about the dry socket, I had 2 dry sockets at once and they hurt but not to be afraid of it. The dentist will usually take you in right away if you have one and he puts a tiny little strand of something with clove (maybe sage) on it and the pain stops immediately! You go back a few days later and he'll take it out, or you might be able to pull it out yourself depending on if you can get to it.

Yes it is, don't worry. As long as you don't suck on anything, (like straws or cigarettes, you nasty-minded folks), then you should be OK. No pain is great.

its probly healing.. the white stuff is most likely food.. I had that problem and freaked out i caled my doctor at like 3am cuz i saw white stuff in the back of my mouth. He said push on it.. and the white stuff came out.. he then said its food... When you go in for a check up they will probly give you this syringe thing that you can add water to it and then flush it out.. YOu'll be fine just take the antibiotics they gave you and if you notice anything wierd dont be afraid to call them. thats what they are there for.. Good luck!!

Yes, it is healing. I had a tooth pulled last week and I now have a dry socket. Believe me, you would know if it were a dry socket, it's very painful!

Nope absolutely not .............you dnt have a dry socket, coz you are not having pain, you are prefectly alright and your extraction site is healing, its really good and i appreciate that you are soooooooooooooo concerned about your self and your health
