Post-braces problems!?!

Question:

Post-braces problems!?

I just removed my braces today. My teeth are really straight but when i smiled, my teeth looked messy as my gum-line is not aligned yet. You can even see the roots of some of my teeth. Also, there are two teeth with so much gum that it makes the teeth next to them look huge. Will it be ok soon? My dentist told me that the gum will heal by itself, forming an aligned gum-line but i kinda have doubts on that. Though my teeth are straight, the roots of my teeth arent. Especially at my upper front. Please help!

Thanks for all the replies! I asked my orthondontist (urgh, i cant spell it!) and he assured me my gum will heal. However, i might still need a gum surgery for two teeth, each beside my upper front teeth. The gum is way below the gumline and he says the only way to aligned them is through gum surgery! He said its a minor surgery but it kinda hurts whenever i looked into the mirror to see a row of straight teeth but a terrible smile.

Answers:

There are two problems that happen with post-braces. You have calcium buildup on the teeth causing stains or white spots. The gums are a problem, showing you have gum disease. This is the result from a lack or proper brush or flossing, I know how hard it is to floss. Since you have them off now, brush and floss twice daily. Try mouthwash once in a while to help clear away the excess bacteria. Gum tissue heals slowely so give it some time.
