I had the same problem. If you're going out to dinner later, don't get any kind of red meat. It's a lot harder to chew than chicken for instance. If possible, get a chicken cutlet or chicken pi-ard (sry don't know how to spell it). Any kind of really thin chicken or chicken you can cut to be really thin is good. That's what I ate when I first got them. Also, as you said, soup, mashed potatoes.

ice cream it releaves tooth pain and its soft

popeyes mashed potatoes!!!

yoplait yogurt, meshed potatoes, jello ,or egg.

Hello, Eating in or out poses the same issue and restrictions, at least for the short term. The discomfort your feeling is due to pressure placed on the teeth as they are forced to move in the direction the braces dictate. That should go away shortly, at least until the next adjustment. I would suggest that you still, at least for another couple of days, stay on a diet that doesn't require gnawing or chewing on really crunchy foods. Meat wise you can easily eat, wieners (hot dogs), meat loaf, hamburger steak and say a meat casserole. Just about any type of pasta is OK and of course well cooked veggies. Fish, baked and or fried should pose no problems. Tough steak, BBQ Ribs and overly fried chicken could be a problem. Adjustments to teeth by braces actually tend to make a tooth slightly, and I mean "slightly" loose as it forces the tooth to move. That's why you don't want to attempt to eat foods that require excess bite pressure when chewing....Hey, have a great outing and eat well.
