A TAD is a temporarily anchorage device where they put a little screw up in your jaw bone and then put a band from that to one of your upper teeth to pull your jaw back -- same result people used to get if they had to wear a headgear.

Answers:

Hi there, I aren't sure what you mean by a TAD, but i have had fixed braces on both top and bottom teeth. I won't lie, when it first goes on it hurts like hell. The first couple of days are a complete nightmare, but as long as you keep taking painkillers you will get through it. You soon get used to it, and the painful feeling subsides. It only then hurts when you go for your check ups and they tighten the wires. I also had to have a couple of months where they used tiny elastic bands to join my top and bottom row - its just added pressure to turn your teeth. This feels weird.... your mouth can feel like its on springs, but again, you get used to it.

I had my braces on for about 18 months, and even though I hated having them on, it was def worth it. My teeth are now perfect!

Good luck!
