What is a 'Bite Plate' and what does it do?

I've got one, it's also known as a bite guard and it helps protect your teeth from night time grinding.
Mine is a hard BG as im a big time grinder, but you can have them made in a softer material.
You visit the dentist and he/she takes moulds of you upper/lower teeth and you go back to the surgery about a week later to pick it up.
You should try and keep it in a little plastic box with a small amont of water this will prevent it from drying out and distorting.
Mine did not cost me anything as i am a dental nurse and my dentist made it for free!, but i think they cost roughly £60, but dont quote me on that as each surgery has their own price!
