Pain in jaw/chin throbbing after removal of wisdom teeth?!

Question:

Pain in jaw/chin throbbing after removal of wisdom teeth?

I am almost 30 and had my 2 lower wisdom teeth removed last Thursday, I thought I was feeling better the pain was starting to subside this morning but now I have this throbbing pain under my chin, localized in my jaw that wont go away, my mouth does not hurt inside at all, just my jaw, under my chin, I can only open my mouth a tiny bit as it is limited, what is going on with me? I took a percocet an hour 1/2 ago and it is not helping at all?

Answers:

You may have a dry socket. This occurs when the "scab" from surgery comes loose and leaves the nerves exposed. It can be VERY painful. You should go immediatly back to the place where you got your surgery and they will pack the holes with gauze and give you medicine that you will apply to the area. Hope this helps, feel better!
