What is a palate obturator?!

What is a palate obturator?

it is said to temporarily closed a cleft palate. i want to know how it looks like


Answers:

A former patient of mine had one that looked like a retainer with a thumblike protrusion of plastic on the top that one in placed closed (plugged) the hole in the (palate) roof of his mouth. Hope that helps!
