Tooth with filling has become sensetive to cold?!
Question: Tooth has had a filling for 25 yrs. I recently woke one morning feeling like I had been grinding my teeth during the night. The tooth is now sensetive to cold-not hot. It is also sensetive to pressure when chewing. Anyone know what's going on? A friend told me that I might have cracked the filling.

A crack sounds most likely. This is a common problem with filled teeth over the years.
See your dentist ASAP.

it is very possible that your filling has a crack in it. but also it has been 25 yrs and your filling is propbably wearing out, especially if your grinding on it, I would go to the dentist and get it checked out

Well now not much to say that hasn't already been said. But anyway lets give it w whirl. The sudden sensitivity you describe would first make me think, here comes a Root Canal. Sudden issues with heat and cold means that the tooth's nerve has now been exposed in a manner that hasn't existed before.sudden loss of a filing is one answer as is the incident of an existing filing suddenly chipping or dislodging and providing fresh air access to or very near the tooth's nerve....Actually I'm leaning more towards the possibility of an abscess at the tooth's root. At any rate the DDS will Xray and determine the exact cause...Good luck and I wish you well.
