Answers:

You should schedule an appointment for a cleaning if you haven't done so yet. Swollen tissue is very common during and especially after the removal of orthodontics, it will take a professional cleaning along with your excellent home care to get the tissue back into healthy condition.

Always use a soft tooth brush and continue to floss after meals to remove any food that may become lodged under the swollen tissue causing any added irritation. Also use warm (as warm as you can stand it without burning your self of coarse) salt water rinses several times a day. This will soothe and help reduce the swelling. The most important part is having your cleaning and then to continue with good home care to get the tissue into shape and keep it that way.

Hope I've been of some help and enjoy that beautiful new smile!
