Why do hard boiled eggs hurt my teeth?!
Question:
Why do hard boiled eggs hurt my teeth?
Have you even bitten on a piece of tinfoil, and it feels the your whole mouth and teeth are being shocked? This is what it feels like when I eat a hard boiled egg. Not the yolk, just the white part. I have some silver fillings, does that have anything to do with it? Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know why it happens?
Answers:
Actually the sulfur in eggs can sometimes help relieve tooth pain, especially if you have silver fillings opposing gold restorations.
When these 2 metals come into contact initially, you can experience a phenomema called "the galvanic effect."
The sulfur in the eggs can neutralize this occurance.
I apologize if this does not help answer your question, but I thought it was an interesting factoid.
Did you recently have any new fillings placed? Do you have any gold work?
