My dentist uses needles. very painful, make sure to never getn a cavity on the back of your front/near front teeth, i had that and i either had to have a needle to the roof of my mouth or some weird thing on the back of my tooth so i chose the tooth one and it was extremely painful.

Some use gas and some do not. I believe you can request it.

Depends on weather or not they are doing a simple extraction or oral surgery. For a simple extraction they will use a local anesthetic, and may use gas. That all depends on the Doctor and the patient. I have always had gas used because I am uncomfortable at the Dentist. It helps keep you calmer.

I got one tooth pulled and they just used needles...my mouth was very numb but other than that I was still awake and everything. At the same time I was there a girl was there having all four wisdom teeth out. She was put under completely...unconscious and had to lay on a cot a long time while she woke up. I think it depends how much work they have to do and exactly how involved it is...just pulling the tooth only took a couple of minutes, but if they have to do something more like surgery they might but you out or use the gas...might depend on what your dentist likes too.

They gave me a numbing anesthetic to numb my gum so they could give me the REAL numbing stuff...

kind of ironic

with a big slap over the head..... ;-)

If the procedure is going to be tough or extra long they may give you gas, but for standard procedures you have to ask for it.

Usually they just inject your gums with novacaine.

they put anumbing agent on your gum ant then give you a shot really i would rather have my teeh pulled any day over any work at all such as fillings and root canals '

the other alternatine is they put you under with local drug

good luck its not bad at all

I did For 20 yrs & most of my patients loved it & I never charged for it!! Now there will be a chrge I would almost pay my patients to use it cause the were so relaxed & not scared at all. Most today do not use it call around & check?? Doc W

they'll just give you a shot in the gums or use gels on it to numb it.
