Hello, OK, first, the ache your feeling would make it easier to given opinion about if I knew the answer to either of the following questions: (1)..Are you talking about one or two teeth that are side by side? (2) Or, is it seemingly all or most of the Upper or Lower teeth that have an aching sensation? Now, it it seems that "all" of your teeth ache, my first thought would be that you have a somewhat serious sinus infection. Sinus infections or really stuffy colds can created pressures in the sinus cavities and that pressure can actually press on the main nerve trunk that supplies your jaws and in turn your teeth..Such pressure on those nerve can indeed cause tooth nerves to send an aching sensation.

If on the other hand you only have one or two teeth creating the aching, and your sure there are no cavities I would suspect that you may have an abscess on the root of a tooth. It could be an abscess that is affecting a single tooth but in some cases the aching pain doesn't seem to be specifically under one tooth so it takes an Xray to locate the actual location of the abscess. Cavities are not always seen as open holes in a tooth. Many cavities are located just under the surface of the tooth making them more difficult to find. When you get a dental exam the Dentist probes the tooths surface with a sharp metal probe looking for "soft" spots. Such a find indicates decay under the top surface. Unfortunately, regular tooth cleaning doesn't 100% protect you from having a decay problem at some point in time. See you DDS and get a dental check up. If that fails to identify the reason for the aching your next stop is an ENT (Ear,Nose & Throat) doctor to get your sinuses checked out. Good luck and I wish you well.

It's hard to say what could be the problem without a proper exam. It could be a tooth or gum problem. You should visit your dentist for an emergency visit.
