Please please help?!

i had my 1st filling this morning. and i am now in alot of pain. now the anesthetic has work off its painful sensitive and sore. is this norml?.. and if so when should it get better. the dentist said when he looked at the x ray i might need root canal. but he didnt end up doin that... is there any thing i can do to make it feel better

This is normal. The nerve was aggravated during the procedure, most likely. You can take tylenol, or motrin, this should help. You will also be sensitive to hot and cold for a few weeks. If the pain lasts longer than a weel, contact your dentist, see if he can give you advice.
