Tooth hurts when tapped?
HI i 21 years old and i think i have good teeth but one tooth in the back had a filling but it broke off like a year ago and i never had it fixed becouse it never hurt but now it hurt if i hap my tooth with a spoon or if press my top tooth on it.... what could this be and will i loose my tooth it dont hurt bad just a dull light pain every time i do it i have a dentist apt in a few days im just looking for some info

If your tooth hurts when you tap it, you probably have an abscess. As simple as it is, this is probably the most valuable test the dentist has to determine the fate of your tooth. Put this together with an x-ray and you will know for sure. Expect the dentist to offer the choice of a root canal treatment or an extraction, so you can be half-way ready by the time you have your appointment.
