Mouth peeling after using Listerine???!

Question: Has anyone had the problem of "mouth peeling" after using Listerine? After I use it, a thin layer of skin peels off of my cheeks, inner lips, and gums. This happens each time until they are very raw and sore. I stopped using it because of this and the problem stopped. Thinking it was a fluke thing, I tried it again after a year or so and it happened again. Is there a mouthwash that won't cause this and still kills germs? Thanks!

The only over the counter mouthwash which has been proven to reduce germs causing oral and dental diseases is Listerine, but there is another mouthwash which is even more effective than Listerine but causes tooth staining and is available by prescription. If you were my patient I would recommend you to use Crest mouthwash which will refresh your mouth and has a some effect on oral bacteria.

Listerine does that to me too, it's too strong.

Get Crest Pro-Health! They make toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. But the mouthwash is alcohol-free, so it doesn't dry out the skin in your mouth. It works just as well (if not better) than listerine but doesn't make your mouth peel

Indeed, it happens to me too. I had a bad tooth ache and the only thing that made it feel better was to keep mouth wash in my mouth. I did that for a couple days and mouth was raw for like a week straight afterwards. Sensodyne works great for me, no peeling of the skin and it helps with sensitive teeth!
