I have had my braces since Febuary 28 2007, I had to have 4 teeh pulled.....Can anyone tell me how long it will for my gaps to close?

hi! i cannot tell you how long it will take your spaces to close but i can tell you that you ideally want them to move slowly. i know that sounds funny but it is true. your teeth are made up of two part...the crown (which you can see) and the root (which is under the gums). the roots are still developing in your mouth. as your teeth move slowly things can still grow and develop as they should. but if you had an aggressive orthodontist who moves the teeth too quickly he/she could damage the root development and your roots would be blunted. which is a fancy way of saying they would be short. the problem with that would be that over time if you did not keep up with your dental health then you would potentially have mobility in the tooth b/c it would not have a strong root system! so be patient dear patient! things will start to move quicker than you think they will...it has only been a couple of months..you will probably be in them a couple years...as is the typical case....be patient and dont forget to brush them a lot! you dont want those white marks on them from lack of care either! straight teeth with cavities are not that pretty!
