Do doctors lose money when you don't show up for an operation?!

Question: I have a friend that has her wisdom teeth coming and she was suppose to have them removed last week and she never went because she's afraid of having any form of operation. As an arguing point I was just wondering if doctors lose money when you don't show up for an operation?

They miss on the money your friend was going to pay for the operation, and now they have the time open that she was supposed be having an appointment, with no patient there, so yes. I dont think that it is right, because someone may have needed the appointment, and he couldnt fit them in, so that your friend could get her teeth out. She should just call and let them know. Some doctors charge a fee for not canceling.

sure, they've blocked out the time and had employees ready to work. They've set things up. They could have been helping other patients. Some doctors will bill you for a missed appointment.

Yes, because when she didn't show up,, that's someone else in pain that could've been operated...

Well, they can bill her for the time they had set aside to work on her - they could have filled the vacant spot had she called instead of just not showing up (which is kind of rude - unpleasant situation or not)

if they dont show up they dont get paid. really its obvious :)

Who cares if they loose cash they have enough and usually over charge u. No they don't loose money they loose time but time is money so u can figure that out on your own.

If u hav an appointment then don't show up, most probably the Dr lost some money because he/she had to turn down another patient to attend to you instead.

of course!

Of course.

If she pays for the operation she missed, then they don't lose anything, but if you are trying to argue that she shouldn't have to pay, then you are wrong because the doctors do lose money. They have wasted time that they could have used treating a patient that was going to pay them.
