Rechargeable Tooth Brush / No Metal Contacts / How Can It Charge Through Plastic!
Question:
Rechargeable Tooth Brush / No Metal Contacts / How Can It Charge Through Plastic??
Ok, I think of myself at better than average at understanding electrical things but this one has me stumped.
I bought a rechargable toothbrush and before placing on the charger I noticed there are no metal contacts for current to pass from the charger and to the battery in the toothbrush. I figured there must be some kind of cap that I must remove before charging.......but no.
I placed the brush on the charger and had my doubts about where or not it would charge. But it did and now I feel like a old timer with new technology
The entire portion of both the charger and the base of the brush are entirely made of white plasitc. How can current pass through the plastic to charge the battery?
Answers:
It's just a simple transformer. There is a coil in the base, and a coil in the toothbrush. AC is passed from coil to coil, and rectified into dc in the tooth brush itself.
