Why does someone want to be a dental hygienist?

I am a dental assistant-not a hygienist. A good qualified hygienist makes about $30-35 an hour. Sometimes more. The pay scale has increased significantly in the last 5 yrs or so. You can pretty much pick your hours or days that you want to work. Our hygienists work at two different offices-2 days at one office, and 2 days at another. Also, most private dental offices are closed on Fridays. Which is why I am home on the computer, because I am off every friday. Three day week-end always, Yoo Hoo!
p.s. if I were younger I would go to school to become a hygienist, not an assistant.
