Braces? Invisalign? Help?!

Question: Ok, I have the following problems with my teeth:

*Overbite
*Crowded teeth

I have only heard of three kinds of braces; metal, ceramic, and Invisalign. What other kinds are there? Ok, here are my questions;

What different kinds of braces are there?
What are the average costs?
What are the benefits and disadvantages?

If you have any stories, do tell!

Oh, and I'd like to know advantages and disadvantages of Invisalign and would it work with my teeth condition? Thanks so much!

There are many different varieties of braces, and you would want the one that works best.

there are Conventional Braces - braces that have elastic ties holding the wire in. (most people have these braces). May require extractions depending on how bad of crowding. Longer treatment. More noticable.
price - averagely around $5000

Invisalign:
- know as the clear retainer-like braces.
- advantages - transparent, able to be taken off before eating, gives less force and pain since they generally are renewed every 2 weeks, averagely a faster treatment than regular braces.
- disadvantages - that fact they are removable means, they are not continually correcting teeth, if patients take them off for a long amount of time. particularly more expensive.not as proficient as fixed braces at moving teeth in the vertical dimension. the aligners can become damaged if grinding teeth during the day/night. price ranges from $3,500 to $7,000 in the U.S. depending on location, and your treatment time.
oh, and i cannot tell you if invisalign will work for your condition without seeing it. but since you say you have crowding, and overbite, generally invisalign is for minor cases, of only spacing and very slight crowding. if your teeth are crooked and some may go at an angle and crowd with others, then invisalign cannot work for you.

Damon Braces - These are the braces I'd recommend you getting. They are clear ceramic and steel braces. Which means each bracket is half clear and half metal. These are a more newer technology right under invisalign. It's proven to be faster than conventional braces, not require extractions, and gives a more comfortable and smaller feeling and appearance. They use self ligation, meaning the wire passes through the bracket rather than being held by elastic ties like conventional braces.
price - generally from $5,100 to $6600 depending on location in U.S.

Ceramic Braces - basically all clear ceramic. These are almost like conventional braces, but are clear. They do stain. and are held by elastic ties around the bracket as well. These are meant for minor cases of crowding since the brackets are not as strong and sturdy.

Lingual Braces/iBraces - The braces behind teeth, i really highly don't recommend you get these. It is as well a more difficult procedure to do that most orthodontists dont offer. That makes it more costier than regular braces. And the fact that they are behind your teeth makes it harder to floss which could build up more tartar around the area leaving you at a bigger risk for gingivitis depending on your hygiene habits. It can as well make your tongue sore.

so in the end id recommend Damon Braces, which are metal and ceramic. check out the website below to get more information about them.

It is better to get metallic braces, they are cheaper and more effective

Hi Amanda,
I have invisalign braces. They are very nice and can be taken in and out for eating, brushing, etc. They are also more unnoticeable than regular braces. However, they are quite a bit more expensive. I live in a country outside of the US so what I paid for mine will not be relevant to you, as things cost more where I live. Only your dentist will be able to tell you if you are a good canidate for invisalign, however.
I hope this was helpful.
