Everyone has his or her own story about their wisdom tooth extraction experience. As for "can you drive home or to your office, that is dependant on weather or not you have local anesthetic or a general anesthetic that puts you to sleep for the procedure. If you have general anesthetic, driving is not a good idea "at all"...As for going to your work place following the extractions, yes you could do that but I'm betting that you won't stay long. having all four wisdom teeth extracted at the same time is a bit much to take back to work. Most horror stories are told to get attention. If you strictly follow the doctors orders after the procedure you will do just fine. My son had all four out at the same time and two day's later he was chewing on a McDonalds quarter pounder...an exception to the rules, i didn't find out until later, but it goes to show you that the procedure need not be a horror story experience.

When you get home, use cold packs,do not use hot packs at all. If you attempt to rinse your mouth use cool salt water in a 10% ratio to water mix. If the Dr gives you an Rx for pain, take one 15 minutes quicker than the instructions say. Do not smoke, suck on a straw or attempt to drink from a pop bottle or can. You "must" avoid creating a suction in your mouth that could dislodge any of the blood clots that form in the empty tooth sockets. Before your appointment go to the drug store and purchase a six to eight pack of liquid food supplement. You can also have ice cream and malts right after the extractions...nothing warm or hot. If you lose a blood clot your looking at having a very painful dry socket. Stay on a very soft diet for the first three days and even then take it easy eating for another three. Good luck and I wish you well.

whether you have wisdom tooth or not, the wisdom depends on your natural intelligence. just kidding. it does not matter.

it depends if ur getting sedated...i wouldnt drive home, as for work the next day, do whatever makes u comfortable. i personally had a very good experience. I didnt get swollen or anything, but everyone is diff. I took off for like 3 days haha but thats just bc i dont like work lol.

It depends if they are going to sedate you and dig them out of your jawbone. If so, you can't drive home, and it would be best to take the next day off work if you can. It helps to get it done on a Thursday or Friday. But if the dentist just yanks them out with pliers, it's not a big deal. Also, the dentist can write you a prescription for pain medicine and antibiotics if needed.

I had 2 wisdom teeth removed in February and I am a stay at home mom, and was very sore for about 3-4 days, and I have a pretty high pain tolerance. They can write you a prescription for pain medicine, but you are not supposed to drive while taking it. And if you are going to be sedated you need to have someone else drive you there and home again. Depending on your level of tolerance, you may want to take a couple days off as a precaution if any complications do arise. Sometimes things come up that cannot be avoided like infection or a dry socket.
But then I have a friend who felt ready to work the next day after having all 4 of hers out.

depends on the person. I hurt for about four days. Depends on what your job is and if you can stand the pain while your on your job.

are you going to be sedated for the surgery? if yes, no you cannot drive home. and best advice is to take off the day after surgery. i got all four taken out (under sedation) about one month ago, and it did hurt pretty bad. i thought it would be easy peasy, but i was wrong. if your pain tollerance is good, then you might be fine to go back to work the day after. have you even talked with your dentist? he/she should have told you all of what to do. yes they will give you a perscription. talk with you dentist. he will know whats best for you. God Bless

my story is all of them were pulled at once. i walked 1 mile home from my dentist and went to work the next day after taking an 800 mg advil. i was lucky and it went really well. wisdom teeth arent anchored in as well as regular teeth so a simple extraction is easy as long as theres no complications.
