I got my top traintracks off in October 2007 and the procedure was much less painful than I thought it might be.. There is the bracket remover.. you hear a slight cracking sound when the bracket comes off ... you think your tooth is broken but i assure you it's not..

The orthodontist will then buff up your teeth to remove any residue of the adhesive.

It's possible they will take a completion impression and make you a retainer for a few months to keep the improvement in line.

It is a funny feeling being able to eat without worrying what is caught in the braces.. to brush and floss your teeth in half the time..

And the most exciting thing of all eating a whole apple.... How sad was I.

What ever don't worry.. It doesn't hurt.. there is nothing to worry about... enjoy the new smile:-)

when they took my braces off they took each bracket off by itself by using a tool and pulling it off. It doesnt really hurt that bad only the front teeth did.

They squeeze the brackets until they come away from your teeth...(I think - thats what it felt like =P)
Didn't hurt me when I had mine off, it was a bit uncomfortable but ok. It did hurt some of my friends, but at the end of the day it is worth it =D

Umm, they took this clip thingy and pressed it against each bracket, Then once they did that they took the wires out. Then they took the brackets off with something. It doesent hurt at all :D

they take the wires out first and then use this tool that pulls the individual brackets off. then they'll use a scraper to get the glue off of your teeth and then usually after that they will use a small sanding instrument to get the remaining glue off of your teeth. it doesn't hurt at all, it's just a little uncomfortable at times.

The orthodontist usually uses a special tool to remove the fixed braces.

They clip and pull off the brackets, bands and the wire. Then they rinse out your mouth to get rid of the metal debris.

Afterwards they get rid of the glue on your teeth and give it a good clean.

Also after you have your fixed braces removed, you'll have to come back again to the orthodontist to have retainers.

Retainers ensure that your teeth stays in the correct position but also helps your gum and bone around it adapt.

In the end, it's not as bad as fixed braces but you'll feel discomfort at the beginning.

I hope everything works out in the end. Take care always and good luck.
