If I get my braces done in Canada, can I get them adjusted in the U.S. ?!

Question:

If I get my braces done in Canada, can I get them adjusted in the U.S. ?

Okay heres the thing guys.

First off, thanks for reading this.

Alright, I need to get braces and I have insurance here in Canada. I will be going to school in NYC starting in August, therefore my insurane I have in Canada will be cancelled. It's with the military so it's not a bad deal, its 50%, max. $2500.00. That is why I want to get my braces done here.

My question is, since I'll be going to NYC for school, do you think I can get them adjusted somewhere in NYC?

I mean braces are universal right? If I get the right papers; x-rays, all the numbers, stuff like that...and bring them over with me to NYC, do you think they will be able to adjust them for me there?

Also, if anyone knows, do you know how much it would cost to get them adjusted in NYC?

I would appreciate any info on this as I am in a bit of a pickle here.

Thank you!

Answers:

Normally, I think when a person gets braces on their teeth, it's a flat fee of let's say 3000-3500 dollars that INCLUDES the adjustments. Your request will be a bit unusual because the original orthodontist will have to adjust his fee accordingly. But I think that it's do-able. People, especially kids with braces, move to other cities and states all the time and have to seek further treatment elsewhere. And yes, there's no difference in braces here in the U.S. and Canada.
