Sorry about your teeth...now on to the ones still there...First get decay free. That means getting any other areas of decay treated. I'll list the other tips.
1. Make sure you are brushing properly...quality is more important than quantity. I would reccommend at least twice a day.
2. Use a flouride rinse
3. Floss at least once daily
4. Go to the dentist regularly for cleanings and ask for flouride during those visits.
5. Avoid soda or other surgary drinks (this icludes coffee with surgar and milk)...or.....limit the amount of time drinking them (in other words...don't sip on them for hours.)
6. Chew surgarless gum. It increases your saliva and your saliva helps prevent decay. This works especially well if you tend to get dry mouth
7. You can ask your dentist about a perscription toothpaste such as prevident.
8. Finally...like I mentioned before in reguards to drinks...It isn't what you eat...but rather how often you eat it. If you have to eat or drink often through out the day consider brushing more often.
Why is all this? Well everytime you eat or drink something with surgar....the bacteria we all have in our mouth eats the surgar and produces and acid. Thus the acidity in your mouth goes up...this acid is what causes the tooth to breakdown. Your body via saliva brings this acidity level down but it takes time (this time varies but generally is a couple hours). If you sip or eat often...then your body can't keep up and the acidity level remains high...leaving you more suseptible to decay. Flouride strengthens your resistance to this acidity...which is why it prevents decay.
Enough Science :)
Good Luck
