How can I talk to my dentist about my enamel wear from bulimia without him repre!

Question:

How can I talk to my dentist about my enamel wear from bulimia without him repremanding or lecturing me?

I am recovering. I've recently gone a whole 8 days without binging and purging which is great for me! I want to be honest with my dentist but I don't want to feel humiliated. It's so stupid for the doctors to yell at eating disordered people. WE KNOW already! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Answers:

Please be assured you are doing the right thing. Bulimia is difficult and your dentist has no business lecturing you about it. I hope you join a support group or see a counselor because you do not need to go through this alone. If your dentist is unprofessional about it, get a new one. And please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have battled this and have not purged for 3 years now. You can succeed, and you should be commended. Maybe in a few years you can help others with the same issue.
I wish you the best
