Question: went to the dentist today, she cleaned it up and said try a different brushing technique....is there anything else i can do to stop my gums ever from receding again. i was think of buying sonicare toothbrush, would that help?

brush in circles or up and down gently, not side to side like a seesaw. i highly recommend sonicare toothbrushes to anyone. other then that, nothing else you can do.
Hello, while your oral hygiene is a very important part of the overall health of teeth and gums, the type of toothbrush also makes a difference as does your brushing techniques and frequency. Your toothbrush should not have "stiff" bristles and you should not over-do-it, meaning the number of brushing you do per day. A VERY important issue I notice you didn't say your Dentist mentioned is your over all health and diet. When you get hit with an illness where is the first place your doctor looks? That's right, in your mouth and that's because there are almost no illnesses that don't immediately begin to affect you mouth, teeth and gums. Receding of gum tissue is either gum disease or overall poor nutrition. If your not eating a proper diet you need to supplement by taking a very good multi-vitamin on a daily basis, one that has vitamins A<E<C<D<B and Zinc. By the way, "C" is very very important to your gums and did you know that smoking removes vitamin "C" almost faster than the body can process it? That's a fact you might keep in mind, if you smoke. The Sonicare toothbrush is a very good product but only works well with all other oral care procedures you practice. Good luck and I wish you well.
