I got braces exactly one week ago. It still hurts to eat. I can barely chew even the softest foods.?

Is this normal? When will it stop hurting so I can eat comfortably again?

Absolutely normal. Sorry, but you're going to have to get used to that pain. The amount of pain you feel depends on how much the orthidontist tightened your teeth and how much they've moved since the appointment. Seeing as you've just put the braces on, there's a lot of moving to do. Eventually it will stop hurting (maybe another week). Near the end of your dental work it will hurt less because the braces will only be making small adjustments.
