White filling still hurts after one month?!

Question: i had a small white filling put ina small cavity that never bothered me to begin with. dentist said it should be fixed while it was small. fine! I went back twice for two occlusions. that was fine. one month later, it is sensitive to hot and cold, and still has a dull ache. will this go away or am i in for a root canal? This is drving me crazy, just the dull ache and only somethimes. Advil usually makes it go away, but it returns. thankyou linda

you prob need a bite adjustment 9 times out of 10 its just slighty too high which will cause all those things to happen.. they should mark it with a red/blue paper and see where its too high and adjust it

Well, if he said it was small, then a root canal shouldn't be necessary. But, if the filling he placed in there was not done correctly, the tooth could still be decaying. If that is the case, then you might possibly need to get a root canal. Don't worry though, I have had 2 root canals and they don't hurt any worse than a filling. Good luck!
