Does my baby need to go to the dentist?!

Question: My son got his fourth bottom tooth awhile ago. It looked like he was getting two smaller, pointy teeth in at the same time, but now that the whole tooth is in, they share a base so it's one, split tooth. We don't have dental insurance, and I really can't afford to go - but I just got my tax return so now I can take him if it's necessary.

Have any of you had a similar problem with your child? What were you told to do about it?

it should be ok...once his baby teeth fall out they should grow seperate.
my cousin had this and he's fine

call a dentist and ask advice

you should call and see if it is necessary to go and have it looked at, that way its free advice. im sure theyll tell you to come in either way because youre supposed to as soon as the first tooth comes in i think... check into state aid, its usually free insurance for the kids. If not now, i know as soon as he hits school age he'll be covered but as far as i know it shouldnt be a concern if its just for him because kids are always covered. good luck, im sure he'll be just fine : )

I have 4 kids and did not take them to the Dr until they were just a bit older...they do have Dentist that are just for children its designed around them. you can but as long as you are brushing the baby's gums and teeth I would not worry about it just yet.

I never had a dentist look at my babies teeth that is still the job of the pediatrician. I never brushed their teeth, all 4 of them, either. They all have really nice teeth and rarely need dental work. Unless you have some sort of genetic problem with teeth I would just talk to the doctor.
