You can have them removed but that may be a bit too extreme.
This helped with my little cousin, don't know if it will work with you, but whenever she would suck her thumb they would put hot sauce on it so if she sucked it then it wouldn't be too pleasant. or put some vinegar on it or something that isn't too good. Hope this helps.
There are these thing at the store that you can put on your thumb that with prevent you from sucking it. I gave one to my friend and it worked! She NEVER sucks her thumb anymore.
You can buy a type of clear nail polish that tastes really bad that is supposed to help with that. I know they have it at CVS and Walgreens. It worked on the little girl I babysit.
Hello, no doubt you will get suggestions about putting something on your thumb like hot sauce or some other product designed to taste bad or cause pain...Those are only going to cause you to stop for a very short period of time. Those products will only deal with the symptom and ignore the cause. Thumb sucking is a form of self security, a way of feeling secure and content. The real issue is why you feel you aren't secure and content. You are a prime example of someone dealing with STRESS.. Stress comes from one of six sources, Marriage, Money, Health, Sex, Self Esteem and Employment. It may be that your issue is not actually because your personally involved in one of those areas but instead you are emotionally attached to someone who is and your stressing over their problem. One of two things needs to happen, you need to understand that your friend or family member has to solve their own problem and it's not your place to stress over it. Sure you can be interested in how they deal with their issues and you can feel sorrow that they have an issue to deal with. If you can't separate yourself from such a situation you need to get professional help and isolate the exact area that is causing you stress (thumb sucking)...a professional counselor would be your best choice. Identify the source and then deal with it in a positive manner. If an Appendix needs fixing you see a doctor and get it taken care of, when stress becomes an issue the smart thing is to see a counselor and get the stress taken care of. Good luck and I wish you well.
Honestly I JUST stopped sucking my thumb and I'm an adult. I had to get braces...which sucks. For me it was hard to stop because there was no escaping it. I had to make a choice when I got braces that it was either straight teeth or the comfort of sucking my thumb. I chose beauty over comfort. 4 months later this is the longest time I have ever went without sucking my thumb. I must admit, the sleep isn't that bad without it. I guess my suggestion to you is give yourself a reason to stop. Otherwise you'll have no incentive to want to do it.
Good Luck.
