Pain after tooth removal.?!

Question: Along with my wisdom teeth I also had a developing adult tooth removed in my bottom jaw. The tooth was below all of my other adult teeth. The surgeon said it was a difficult tooth to remove (they had to go in two seperate ways) but they got it out. He said I would be numb for a while.

But a couple of days ago I started having intense pain around the area where it was removed, especially the other teeth. My chin is still numb. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to relieve the pain (besides Advil, Tylenol, etc.)?

It might hurt because the numbing is wearing off. I'm going through this right now, and I've mostly been keeping ice packs on my mouth, and it gets slightly numb again. As for your chin, it may just be taking a bit longer for the numbing to wear off there. Talk to your oral surgeon about it if it still concerns you.

Those teeth always cause the most pain. Try a warm or cold compress, which ever works for you. They should have given you something a little stronger for the pain. I would call and ask if I were you. And the numbness will be there for a day or to. Hope you feel better.

You have what they call a dry socket. VERY PAINFUL. I have experienced this. Call your dentist and explain to him the situation. He will have you come back in at no cost and give you some medication to put in it. It will feel better in no time.
