I'm gettin my braces on next week, should I be worried?!

Question: dont be worried, just know what to expect...

im going to be completely honest with you, they WILL hurt. the first 3 days are killer. so just make sure you have a whole bunch of painkillers and ice. [it really helped when i sucked on ice.] also, make sure that youre parents or guardians or whoever can make you LOTS of soft foods. the 24 hrs, stick with soups, jello, eggs, pudding, breakfast drinks, stuff like that. on the second day, have stuff like grilled cheese, stews, mac&cheese, fruit cups, simple stuff like that. and then you can try harder stuff as you feel more comfortable. just PLEASE dont try eating meat for a couple days. i made that mistake with steak, and it was HORRIBLE. and avoid stuff like corn, b.c at first, you wont really know how to use your tongue to get it out of youre braces...

after about a week though, everything should be back to normal. so dont worry! plus at first its really fun to run your tongue along youre braces! and you'll salviate a lot too, but thats normal.

it might hurt a little when you get them readjusted later on, but it'll just feel stiff for maybe a couple hours max.

GOOD LUCK!! :D

mine didn't hurt and if does hurt you then just take pain killers

No don't be worried. They will be sore for a good week or so, just be sure to eat really soft food. Try eating soup with nothing real hard to chew, mashed potatoes, icecream, yogurt. When they first are on they don't really hurt be they will in a while. Then once you've had them on for a while it's like they're not even there. Just be sure to keep them clean and take tylenol or advil.
Good luck : )

not really except make sure you eat before you go because it will be sore a few hours after you get them and stay that way for around a week, after you get home it might help to take pain killers so it won't be as sore, it doesn't "hurt" but sore, when you eat it's a cross between soreness and pain but that's because I didn't take pain meds, it helps to eat really soft food the first few days

no dont be at all. i just got mine on yesterday=]

for me they just took pictures, brushed my teeth with this mineral stuff, put th lip holder thing on, which i think is comfortable, then put glue on, brackets then wire. it didnt hurt me at all. it only hurt today when i chewed hum, and thats because im not suposed too.

btw: i have had no pain so far and i even had bagel, ham, pasta and other solid foods right after i got them.
