How long until my wisdom teeth holes close up?!

Question: Hi, I 4 wisdom teeth take out on monday 17th. I healed pretty fast. I've been eating normal food and can almost open up my mouth all the way. Anyways...I REALLY miss nuts, pupcorn, and sunflower seeds. I looked at my holes and they're pretty big...so I was wondering how long it would take for them to close up so I can go back to eating those foods I just mentioned. I'm really afraid of getting something stuck in there. Food particles come out as I rinse my mouth but I'm afraid of those little nut and kernel pieces :(

OK here's the deal...A blood clot fills the empty socket. The socket begins to heal from the bottom up, that's why you don't want to lose a clot, if you do you expose raw bone and tissue and that my friend will be painful. The over all healing will take between 5 and 6 months...You should feel no pain or discomfort after say five day's...From that time on the healing is going on and the gums and bone at the extraction sites undergo changes in shape and size. As for eating, a soft diet is the way to go for the first week, soups, soft salads, ice cream, cooked veggies, hamburger steak and meatloaf are good meat dishes. You can help the healing process by taking a good multi-vitamin on a daily basis that contains vitamins A<E<C<D<B and Zinc.....For the first two weeks avoid smoking, drinking from pop bottles or sucking on straws...all of those can dislodge a blood clot and cause a dry socket. Good luck and I wish you well.

ooo i never experienced that Report It

I had my wisdom teeth removed a year ago and still have slight indentations.

The doctor shoud have given you a plunger like thing to squirt water in the holes to get the food particles out. If not, on your follow appointment, ask for one.

Did you get stitched up after the surgery? I had mine taken out years ago, and there are still little slits where they were. I believe that the rule when I had them done was none of that stuff for two weeks. Mine were not grown in yet, i don't know if that changes the rules at all...
