What is this?!?!

Question:

What is this?!?

My wisdom teeth have just been removed and it's been exactly one week today. To take my medication I was eating some baby food and I felt something loose on the gums to the lower right, and it came off as I was eating... I took it out and it seems to be a piece of skin or something that is dark reddish brownish (most likely blood).
I've read into wisdom teeth removal and precautions, and recently I found out that blod clots need to set themselves in the gums and if they come out you have a dry socket, and it can be painful.
Because of the removal, naturally my gums hurt from time to time, but could this be a blood clot that came out? Or is this a sign of healing and a common occurance after the extraction of wisdom teeth? Please help!

Oh and yesterday the same thing happened on the other lower side, but it was a much smaller piece so I thought nothing of it...

Answers:

this is probably just part of the clot that came off. as long as you don't continue bleeding, i wouldn't worry about it too much, and being that is was a week ago, your body has probably fully clotted the wound. keep your eye on it though, and if you develop any pain, i would call your dentist asap.
