I had my wisdom teeth removed almost 5 months ago...?!

Question:

I had my wisdom teeth removed almost 5 months ago...?

And lately the teeth at the back of my mouth have been hurting a lot. I'm also getting a lot of headaches. It's been quite a while, is this normal? Are your teeth supposed to still be shifting after 5 months? Thanks in advance.

Answers:

No that is not normal and you shouldn't be having problems.. What this actually sounds like to me is grinding teeth.

Are your teeth sensitive at all? Are there sharp shooting pains? Many people grind or clench their teeth in the middle of the night, and do not even know this. Your best bet would be to see a Dentist as soon as you can, and ask him to look. See if there is any wear back there from grinding. If so he can make a mouth-guard for at night. The Wisdom teeth should have been healed by now, but without looking it is truly hard to tell.

When you wake up tomorrow, take the time to lay there for a second and see if it feels like your jaw is stiff or aching, right underneath the ears. If so, it is possible you grind your teeth at night. It is very common and very much treatable. Good luck.
