Lower retainer?!

Question: How long does the orthodontist keep the lower bonded retainer on your teeth?

Answers: How long does the orthodontist keep the lower bonded retainer on your teeth?

Sometimes it depends on how old you are. If you are in your teens right now, it'll possibly be removed when you're in your early twenties. It's a semi-permanent thing. It also depends on how severely crooked your teeth were before braces. When you get your braces removed, the tendency for your teeth to set back into its crooked position usually happens in the first ten years after removal of the braces.

It usually stays permanently unless there's a problem (if it breaks or you want it off). Lower teeth tend to move back to where they came from if the retainer isn't on. It's smart to keep it as long on as long as you can so they don't move.
