Answers:

Your parents are your advocates and should call a dentist referral hot line to find out if their are dentists in your area that will do the work on you under sedation. You should really not have the tooth pulled if you can avoid it. At your age, it will shift and change your facial structure, and take away a tooth that is major for chewing with. Today they can clean up the infection, do a root canal to deaden the nerve and then cap it with a crown. You should be getting a second opinion from a dentist that will perform sedation under treatment. Your parents should be taking you to the dentist yearly for a cleaning and x-rays, to prevent and catch any problems early. You may want to ask them about a night guard if you cracked the tooth from grinding or clinching. If you bit down on something, then the crack is most likely not on the floor of the tooth, and when cracking occurs on the floor of the tooth, they can try to save it by doing a root canal and crown, but sometimes it requires pulling the tooth. Get that second opinion and see if there is any saving the tooth. Under sedation, you will not suffer any of your anxieties and fear. Your fears are valid, many people have extreme fears of the dentist and your parents need to recognize this, validate your fears, realized that you have recognized and defined your fear and that you are being proactive in seeking help with them. Your parents should be able to allow you some other options.
