Hello, baking soda does two things in the mouth, neutralize acids and cleans away organic matter. Many surface stains on teeth are created by food stains that penetrate the outer surface of a tooth, especially if that surface has been damaged in any way. The soda will certainly do a pretty good job removing the food stain as long as it's not a deep stain or actually natural tooth color. Changing the color of a tooth usually requires a procedure only a dentist can do. If you have a spot on a tooth that stands out, your more than likely are seeing one of two things, a natural concentration of natural tooth color, or possibly a decay area that is under the outer tooth layer of enamel. Your teeth are made up of three basic layers of material. The outer layer, Enamel, is shaded from totally clear to, gray to blue gray. The middle layer, the Dentin, is shaded from tan to brown to yellow. The third layer, the Pulp, is always a shade of pink....When a light source, sunlight or light bulb, send light through a tooth when you talk, smile or laugh, the light penetrates to the Pulp and the reflects back through the other two layer and as it exits the tooth it blends the three layers together and the final reflection is what you see. Only a dental procedure can make remarkable changes in a tooth's shade....Good luck and I wish you well.

it works! I have done it for years and it works! no need to worry!
