What's the name for the bridge of tissue above and in front of the incisor teeth!

Question:

What's the name for the bridge of tissue above and in front of the incisor teeth in your mouth?

A couple of days ago that bridge broke in my mouth and has been fairly painful ever since. I didn't think there would be any real problems from that breaking but are there any? Does it have a purpose?

I found out that the name is the upper labial frenum. Is it a problem if it's torn? I guess it will regenerate.

Answers:

It's called the incisive papilla, and it is easily damaged. It regenerates, as all oral mucosa does, in 7 - 10 days.
