Best thing is Beverley Hills Formula toothpaste as it is non-abrasive and works straightaway. However an at-home method is (and please don't use this more than once a month, it is mildly abrasive and may make your teeth more sensitive) to clean your teeth as normal. Then dip your wet toothbrush in a little bicarbonate of soda. Brush using this. Rinse your mouth thoroughly. Then clean again with your normal toothpaste. This should remove any stubborn staining.

Take one teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of salt. Now make a paste and use it on discolored teeth. Do not swallow and have a drink ready for after to rinse the taste away.

I know you said you dont want the at home products, but ive used crest whitestrips (pro i think?) and within two days my teeth were NOTICEABLY whiter. my friends and boyfriend noticed right away. it lasted for quite awhile too, and its about 30 dollars. sometimes cheaper. The only bad thing is I had to stop doing it twice a day and i did it every other day (its a 14 day kit, oyu can stop whenever though) because my teeth became very sensitive. Be careful with home remedies because these are things youre injesting basically and that can easily lead to poison. Baking soda is the next best bet if you dont want a drug store kit. But I have done the kits a couple of times and it truly works and lasts about 6 months. good luck : )
